Songs of the Ghetto and Shoah

In 2009 Hilda gave a concert at the Spiro Ark in the series, ‘Their lives in Yiddish Song’. The theme of this concert was 'Songs of the Ghetto and the Shoah'. The performance involved research into a period of Jewish history which was both tragic and inspirational. While their worlds were falling apart, and in the midst of horror and unspeakable suffering, musicians were recording their lives in the words and music of their compositions. Hilda now continues her exploration of these songs, aided by the invaluable work of researchers, academics and musicians who have trodden this ground before her. She is working towards a third CD of such songs - hopefully during late 2010 - so watch this space!
